The GR3 is one of the newest exercise bikes in Horizon's lineup, and currently the only indoor cycle offered by the company. The M4 and IC7 are no longer being sold as of the writing of this review.
What we love about Horizon is that unlike many of their competitors, they are able to keep the quality at a very high level despite the fact that all of their cardio equipment is quite affordable.
Their bikes are well designed and comfortable, and can be adjusted to find the perfect fit for your ride.
The GR3 features a knob that allows you to easily and quickly make resistance adjustments as you pedal. You can adjust the handlebars to three different positions, and there's a built in wireless heart rate monitor so you can keep track of just how hard you are training.
There's a nice sized LCD display on the console with three different workout programs built in for some variety. You have HIIT, or high intensity interval training, speed intervals and heart rate intervals. You can also do manual rides if you prefer.
There's a road-style saddle and pedal cage with toe strap to mimic an outdoor ride. There is also a heavy 48 lb. flywheel that makes everything feel very smooth and natural as you transition from one resistance level to the next.
Further adding to the on-road feel is the new Glow Ride lighting system, a Horizon Fitness exclusive. It leads you through three different phases of riding.
Some of the extras include transport wheels so you can easily move the GR3 around post workout for storage or from one side of your gym to the other. You also get a water bottle holder which is very helpful especially for those longer rides.
Overall the Horizon GR3 Indoor Cycling Bike is a winner. It comes with a solid 10 year frame warranty, which is more than you typically get at this price point. Horizon is also known for their great customer service, a rarity in the fitness industry.
At under $500 on sale, you'd be hard pressed to find a better indoor cycling bike for your home. You really can't go wrong with any Horizon cardio machines, as their treadmills and ellipticals are also very well built and very affordably priced.
The GR3 follows in that tradition, providing a high quality workout on a solid exercise bike that won't break the bank.
You get plenty of adjustability, wireless heart rate monitoring, built in workout programs and the unique Glow Ride lighting system. Check out this great exercise bike today and see if it's the right choice for your home gym.
NO LONGER AVAILABLE: Take a look at the new ProForm Carbon CX as an alternative.
