The Buzz

Sole SB700 reviews have been quite positive thus far, as users appreciate the fact that they can get a high quality piece of cardio equipment without having to pay top dollar.

Sole has made a name for themselves in the industry for having the ability to give you gym-quality components at a very competitive price.  This is true not only for their exercise bikes, but also for their very popular treadmills and ellipticals.

The Sole SB700 spin bike features a 2.0 mm oval steel tubing frame, a heavy 48-lb chrome-plated flywheel for quiet, smooth ride and a Kevlar brake system for consistent performance.

It includes pedal straps to keep your feet attached even during the most strenuous workouts, and the seat and handlebars move up and down, as well as fore and aft, for the best user fit.

The turn knob at the base of the handlebars allows you to dial through 16 levels of resistance, so you can really challenge yourself from one workout to the next.

The Sole SB700 mimics every feature of the more advanced bikes used in health club Spinner classes, but also adds Sole’s attractive display console (similar to the ones used on their ellipticals and treadmills) so that you have a large display to track workout stats.

With lifetime coverage on the frame, 3-year coverage on all parts and electronics, and 1-year for in-home repairs, the SB700 spin bike is backed by Sole’s strong warranty and customer service program, which exceeds what is offered by most of their competitors.

Sole SB700 vs SB900...What's the Difference?

Sole SB700 Exercise Bike Console

Sole currently offers two different spin bikes:  the SB700 and the up-level SB900.  Both are very well made and designed to provide an enjoyable workout experience, but they do have some differences worth noting.

Let's take a brief look at both of them to see how they compare...

SB700

As you've read about above, the base model gives you a 48 lb. flywheel, vertical/horizontal seat and handlebar adjustability, toe cage pedals, felt pad resistance, a 300 lb. max weight capacity and a 3" x 4" LCD display.

SB900

The SB900 is about 20 lbs. heavier overall, with a more advanced eddy current brake system and SPD or toe clip pedals.  Otherwise the two Sole exercise bikes are identical.

So when it comes to the SB700 vs SB900, you're going to get a smoother ride and a little more versatility with the SB900.

The SB700 will cost you around $799 on sale, and the SB900 is typically about $999 on sale, so not too much of a difference there.  It's certainly much more affordable than something like the Peloton bike, which is about $2,000 plus the ongoing subscription.  However, the Sole bikes don't come with live classes.

There is another Sole model, called the SB800, but that one is not a spin bike, it's an air fan bike similar to the Schwinn Airdyne series.  So even though it is similarly named, it's a different type of bike altogether, with a big fan blowing air at you and moving arms like an elliptical trainer.

The SB700 and SB900 are the only two spin bikes that Sole has at the moment.

Our Take on the SB700 Indoor Bike

The Sole SB700 spin bike is a very solid choice, with enough features and capabilities to satisfy most users.  It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of some of the more expensive models, but it will provide a solid, comfortable workout to help you reach your fitness goals.

Also take a look at the up-level SB900, which gives you the smoother eddy current brakes and pedal options, with not too much of a price jump.

Although you can often find the SB700 used on Craigslist and similar sites, your best bet is going directly through the official Sole Fitness site, where you can find the best deals and periodic sales.
